‘SNL’ Revives Domingo Skit with Host Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter made her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live (SNL) with a delightful tribute to the viral Domingo skit, featuring a contemporary pop twist. The singer, known for her hit “Manchild,” acted as both host and musical guest during the episode.

Sabrina Carpenter Revives Domingo Skit on SNL

The show kicked off with a reunion of Chloe Fineman’s character, Kelsey, who was flanked by her best friends, including Carpenter. They recounted their adventures in Nashville through song, providing a fun nod to the original skit.

Modern Musical Highlights

  • The girls harmonized to tracks like Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” and Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra.”
  • Marcello Hernández reprised his popular Domingo character, professing love to Kelsey with Alex Warren’s “Ordinary.”

The initial Domingo skit became a sensation, famously featuring Carpenter’s “Espresso.” This time, she was joined by Ariana Grande in the original but starred in the SNL 50 sequel.

Carpenter’s Monologue

During her opening remarks, Carpenter addressed the mixed reactions to her album cover for “Man’s Best Friend.” She humorously remarked on how the cover—a photo of her on all fours—was sensationalized. Carpenter explained, “If you zoom out, it’s clearly a picture from the 50th anniversary special of Bowen helping me up by the hair.”

She continued by adapting her persona, saying, “There is a real person underneath all the sparkles and wigs.” She also engaged the audience by asking who she could “arrest” for being attractive.

Special Cameos and Future Hosts

Kenan Thompson made a playful appearance, jokingly “arresting” Carpenter for her past impersonations at concerts. Carpenter’s turn as host was significant, marking her first time leading an episode while she had previously been a musical guest.

Carpenter’s performance included her rendition of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic “Homeward Bound,” which she shared with Paul Simon during the show’s 50th anniversary special.

Upcoming SNL Hosts

  • Miles Teller will host on November 1.
  • Nikki Glaser will debut on November 8.
  • Glen Powell is set to host on November 15.

Last week’s episode also featured appearances by former cast members Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, and Seth Meyers, adding a nostalgic touch to the night.
