Colts’ Charvarius Ward Lands on IR After Week 6 Concussion

In recent developments within the Indianapolis Colts organization, starting cornerback Charvarius Ward has been placed on injured reserve due to a concussion sustained during warmups last Sunday. This incident occurred prior to the team’s Week 6 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

Charvarius Ward’s Injury Details

Ward, who joined the Colts this offseason after three successful seasons with the 49ers and four years with the Chiefs, has a notable career. He was recognized as a Pro Bowler and a second-team All-Pro in 2023. Unfortunately, this concussion will sideline him for a minimum of four games.

Roster Adjustments Following Injury

To address Ward’s absence, the Colts have signed veteran running back Ameer Abdullah from their practice squad. Additionally, they have elevated cornerback Cameron Mitchell and wide receiver Laquon Treadwell to the active roster.

Colts Season Outlook

Currently, the Colts boast a strong 5-1 record and look ahead to their upcoming matchup against the 4-2 Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday. The Colts have been faced with injury challenges, as earlier in the week, former starting quarterback Anthony Richardson was also placed on injured reserve following an orbital fracture. This injury resulted from an equipment malfunction in the locker room before the Week 6 game.

Quarterback Situation

With Richardson out, rookie Riley Leonard has been named the backup quarterback, supporting starter Daniel Jones. The Colts continue to adapt as they aim to maintain their winning momentum this season.
