Bucks and Green Sign 4-Year, $45 Million Extension Deal

Milwaukee Bucks guard AJ Green has signed a four-year contract extension worth $45 million. The deal, fully guaranteed, was confirmed by his agent, Matt Bollero of ProMondo Sports.

AJ Green’s Rise in the NBA

Green’s journey with the Bucks is remarkable. An Iowa native, he was undrafted in 2022. Initially, he signed a two-way contract before transitioning to a standard deal. This latest extension solidifies his future with the franchise through the 2029-30 season.

The Bucks’ commitment is strategic, as Green has established himself as a key player. He emerged as a full-time starter under Coach Doc Rivers for the upcoming season. His performance in the previous season reflected his growth, scoring 541 points—a significant increase from 406 points in his first two NBA seasons. This averages out to 7.4 points per game.

Green’s Shooting Prowess

AJ Green is known as one of the NBA’s elite shooters. He boasts a career shooting percentage of 42% from three-point range. In each of his three seasons, he has maintained a three-point shooting percentage of at least 40%.

  • Green’s 42.7% shooting from beyond the arc last season ranked sixth among players who attempted 300 or more three-pointers.
  • He shot 44.9% on catch-and-shoot three-pointers, placing fifth among players with at least 250 attempts.

This extension not only highlights the Bucks’ faith in Green but also underscores his significance as they gear up for the new campaign. With his continued performance, Green is well-positioned to contribute to the team’s success in the coming years.
