Indiana University Extends Coach Curt Cignetti’s Contract Through 2033

Indiana University has extended the contract of head football coach Curt Cignetti through November 30, 2033. This new agreement spans eight years and includes an average annual salary of approximately $11.6 million.

Commitment to Excellence in Football

Indiana University President Pamela Whitten praised Cignetti for embodying the university’s commitment to excellence. She stated, “Put simply, Cig is a winner,” highlighting the success of the football program under his leadership.

The program saw notable achievements, including a College Football Playoff appearance last season and a current top-3 national ranking.

Leadership and Achievements

IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Dolson emphasized the importance of Cignetti in promoting championship-level competition. He remarked, “His accomplishments during the last season and a half have been nothing short of remarkable.”

  • He achieved an 11-1 record against Big Ten opponents.
  • He was named National and Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2024.

Recent Season Success

The current 2025 season has started even stronger, with IU holding a 6-0 record overall and 3-0 in Big Ten play. The Hoosiers are ranked No. 3 nationally, marking the highest position in the program’s history.

This season, IU Football claimed important victories, including wins against No. 9 Illinois and No. 3 Oregon. The recent win against Oregon represented IU’s second victory against a top-5 ranked team and its first on the road against such opponents.

Fan Engagement and Future Outlook

The success on the field has also revitalized the fan base. IU Football sold out its last four Big Ten games in 2024 and all games in the 2025 Big Ten Conference schedule.

The Hoosiers are set to play Michigan State this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Merchants Bank Field at Memorial Stadium, looking to continue their winning streak.
