Longueuil: Traffic Disruptions and Contraflow on A30 This Friday

Traffic disruptions are anticipated on Highway 30 in Longueuil due to upcoming construction activities. Starting Friday, October 17, the highway will experience contraflow traffic between Boulevard Grande Allée and Route 112.

A30 Construction Schedule

The construction will begin at 11 PM on October 17 and is scheduled to conclude by 5 AM on October 20. This project is expected to significantly impact traffic flow, as it will reduce the number of open lanes.

Traffic Impact and Statistics

  • Average daily vehicle count: 88,000
  • Average daily truck count: 13,000

The Ministry of Transport has warned of heavy congestion during this period. The eastbound exit ramp 73, leading to Chambly and Boulevard Cousineau, will be completely closed for the duration of the work.

Purpose of the Construction

This intensive construction phase aims to repair the expansion joints on the overpass above Boulevard Kimber. Temporary signage will be in place to guide drivers through the detours.

Historical Context

Notably, on October 12, 2021, similar construction occurred on the same segment, where traffic was redirected westbound due to prior work on the express bus facilities for the Réseau express métropolitain (REM).

Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and stay informed about potential delays on Highway 30 during this construction period. El-Balad will provide updates as the situation evolves.
