Tenby Observer Honors Community Kindness

The Tenby Observer recently hosted the 2025 Community Kindness Awards, honoring outstanding individuals and businesses in Tenby. The awards took place on October 3 at the De Valence Pavilion, creating a festive atmosphere for celebrating community spirit.
Highlights of the 2025 Community Kindness Awards
The evening began with welcoming remarks from Carolyn Cox of the Tenby Observer and Chris Fox from Tindle Newspapers. Local Councillors Laurence Blackhall and Sam Skyrme Blackhall presented the first awards.
- Young Hero Award: Leah Lewis, a devoted mother and youth worker at Ysgol Greenhill, received this award. She has initiated multiple projects that empower youth participation in Long Course Wales, raising over £3,000 for mental health and domestic abuse charities.
- Community Business Award: Tenby Post Office and Stores won this accolade for their unwavering customer service and community involvement, run by Fiona, Vince, and their staff.
- Good Neighbour Award: This award was given to Rebecca Rees, recognized for her selfless contributions to the community. Her husband, Ian, highlighted the efforts of The Old Chapel, Tenby during the ceremony.
Additional Awards Recognizing Community Contribution
After a buffet meal, Councillors Blackhall and Skyrme Blackhall continued the awards:
- Millbay Homes Community Volunteer Award: Awarded to Blake Shaw and Terry Evans from the Tenby Sailing Club for their remarkable volunteer work.
- Eco Warrior Award: Sponsored by Statkraft, this accolade went to Jan Hill for her efforts in beautifying Augustus Hall with plants and gardens.
- Blue Light Award: Given to RNLI crew members Rob James and Chris ‘Yobbler’ Thomas for their courageous life-saving actions.
- Special Award: Shane Roberts, a local cab company owner and Royal British Legion County Training Officer, received this honor for his significant impact in the community.
