Dodgers to Pitch Glasnow in Game 3, Ohtani in Game 4

The Los Angeles Dodgers are gearing up for crucial games in the National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Manager Dave Roberts has confirmed that Tyler Glasnow will take the mound for Game 3, followed by Shohei Ohtani in Game 4.

Pitching Assignments for the Dodgers

Glasnow’s last start was a notable one. He pitched six scoreless innings during the Dodgers’ Game 4 clincher in the division series against the Philadelphia Phillies. This impactful performance has set the stage for his upcoming game.

On the other hand, Shohei Ohtani has not pitched since October 4. In his last outing against the Cincinnati Reds during the wild-card round, he allowed three runs over six innings. Even without pitching, Ohtani has remained active, serving as the Dodgers’ leadoff hitter and designated hitter throughout the postseason.

Potential Game 7 Scenario

Roberts mentioned that Ohtani’s rest is beneficial and could strategically position him for a potential Game 7 if needed. “Shohei has been fine with rest,” Roberts stated. This flexibility could allow Ohtani to contribute further to the Dodgers’ postseason efforts.

Glasnow’s versatility this October is also noteworthy. He pitched 1⅔ scoreless innings in relief during Ohtani’s previous start against Cincinnati. “Game 3, we feel that Tyler is on regular rest, so it kind of lines him up, as well,” Roberts explained. The alignment of these factors played a crucial role in the decision-making process.

Series Overview

The Dodgers currently lead the NLCS 1-0 after a tightly contested 2-1 victory on Monday at American Family Field. Games 3 and 4 are scheduled to take place this Thursday and Friday at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers aim to reach the World Series for the fifth time in nine seasons, highlighting their status as defending champions.

As of now, the Brewers have yet to announce their pitching plans for the upcoming games. With the stakes high, both teams are preparing for a competitive showdown.
