The nor’easter resulted in widespread flooding across coastal regions. Roads were closed, and public transport experienced interruptions as New Jersey Transit halted coastal rail services until conditions improved.
- Belmar: Route 35 was closed between 16th Avenue and Route 71.
- Neptune: The East End Bridge was shut down due to flooding.
- Cape May County: Authorities in Avalon predicted high tide to surpass 8 feet.
- Wildwood: Multiple roads were reported closed.
Road Closures and Safety Warnings
Authorities urged residents to avoid travel during high tide periods. Key areas affected include:
- Bayview Avenue in Berkeley Township from Butler Boulevard to Allen Road.
- Flooding also impacted routes in Atlantic County, including the Black Horse Pike and White Horse Pike.
Local law enforcement advised against walking in flooded areas due to downed electrical wires reported in Rumson.
High Tide Forecasts and Emergency Responses
The high tide in Berkeley Township is anticipated to peak around 5:30 PM. In Ocean City, Mayor Jay Gillian confirmed that while conditions were manageable, streets remained flooded. Residents were advised to remain indoors whenever possible.
Additionally, Atlantic City’s Department of Human Services has opened a temporary shelter at the Atlantic City Convention Center. This facility accommodates around 140 individuals, mainly unhoused persons, and provides meals.

Wind conditions also contributed to the situation. Gusts reached between 40 mph and 60 mph along the shore, with Avalon experiencing the highest gusts of 60 mph. Coastal flood warnings remain active until 8 PM, as officials caution motorists against driving through water-covered roads.
