AT&T Allocates $177 Million for Data Breach Claims: Eligibility and Filing Guide

The recent AT&T data breaches have led to a significant compensation settlement totaling $177 million. Affected customers from incidents in 2019 and 2024 may be entitled to this payout, with details on eligibility and claims now available.
Overview of Data Breaches
AT&T has faced major data breaches, particularly in 2019 and 2024. The 2019 breach affected over 70 million customers, revealing sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers and birth dates. The company publicly acknowledged this breach in March 2024, after discovering customer data on the dark web.
The 2024 breach was even more extensive, involving the exposure of phone records for approximately 100 million customers. Hackers accessed this data through AT&T’s cloud service, Snowflake, which was disclosed to the public in July 2024.
Settlements for Data Breaches
In June 2024, Judge Ada E. Brown approved a preliminary settlement related to these breaches. The agreement stipulates that the victims of the 2019 incident, referred to as “AT&T 1 Data Incident,” will share a $149 million payout. Victims of the 2024 breach, noted as “AT&T 2 Data Incident,” will share an additional $28 million.
