A strong Nor’easter impacted the Jersey Shore, producing high winds and hazardous conditions on Sunday. Wind gusts reached up to 59 mph, posing significant risks for residents and travelers.

Wind Speeds Reported Along the Jersey Shore

Sea Isle City recorded the highest gust of 59 mph at 9:30 a.m. Other nearby areas also faced strong winds:

  • Avalon: 54 mph at 11:21 a.m.
  • Cape May Harbor: 51 mph at 8:27 a.m.
  • Ocean City: 51 mph at 9:07 a.m.
  • Harvey Cedars: 51 mph at 10:50 a.m.
  • Tuckerton: 50 mph at 2:15 p.m.
  • Atlantic City: 50 mph at 2:05 p.m.

Coastal Impact and Safety Measures

The storm’s powerful winds prompted local authorities to issue advisories. Residents were warned of potential property damage and dangerous driving conditions due to the high winds.

The National Weather Service implemented high wind warnings effective until 6 a.m. Monday. Furthermore, coastal flood warnings are active through 8 p.m. Monday.

Other areas also recorded significant wind speeds, including:

  • Brigantine: 46 mph at 6:49 a.m.
  • Sea Bright: 50 mph at 3:37 p.m.
  • Lake Como: 43 mph at 7:00 a.m.

In total, multiple locations experienced wind gusts exceeding 50 mph during the day, contributing to the dangerous conditions along New Jersey’s coastline.
