Trump Ally Urges Family to Prevent Aides from Exploiting His ‘Dementia’

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has publicly reacted to Donald Trump’s recent call for his arrest, attributing it to Trump’s declining mental fitness. In a post on Truth Social, Trump accused Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson of failing to support ICE agents, demanding their imprisonment. This outburst followed legal challenges from local officials seeking to block the deployment of National Guard units in Chicago amid ongoing protests against ICE raids.

Concerns Over Trump’s Mental Health

During an appearance on The Daily Blast podcast, Pritzker expressed skepticism regarding Trump’s mental state. “I do not expect to be arrested,” he remarked, noting that the president often makes irrational statements. He urged Trump’s family to take action, suggesting they intervene as Trump may be exploited by those around him. Pritzker stated, “I genuinely think there is something wrong with him. I wish that his family would intervene because I do think he needs mental health help.”

Remarks on Cognitive Decline

Numerous reports have surfaced regarding Trump’s cognitive decline, raising questions about his capability to serve as president. An instance of this occurred on September 29, during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where Trump mistakenly recalled details from his first presidential term.

Responses to Trump’s Arrest Demands

Pritzker criticized Trump’s claims that he can arrest elected officials without any crime committed, highlighting the irony in Trump’s accusations given his own legal troubles. “He’s a 34-time convicted felon,” Pritzker noted, adding, “I’ve never been accused of or convicted of anything.”

  • Trump called for the arrest of Pritzker and Johnson.
  • Pritzker has no criminal history or convictions.
  • Trump faces multiple felony convictions.

Violence and Crime in Chicago

The White House has defended Trump’s federalization of National Guard troops in Illinois, asserting it is part of a strategy to combat crime. Critics, including White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson, accused Pritzker and Johnson of complacency regarding public safety. Jackson claimed that the leaders have “blood on their hands,” citing that violence led to 30 shootings, including five deaths, in Chicago over the past weekend.

In response to Trump’s criticisms, Pritzker asserted on social media that he will not back down to oppressive tactics. He warned against the implications of Trump’s actions on democracy, stating, “What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?”

The ongoing legal actions against Trump’s deployment decisions signify a significant confrontation between state and federal governance, particularly regarding immigration enforcement and public safety in Chicago.
