Hull Fair Debuts Big Ben Tower Star Flyer Ride

Hull Fair has introduced an exciting new attraction this year: the Big Ben Tower Star Flyer ride. This major addition has been launched in the area of the fair known as “Scotch Corner.” This part of the fairground is operated by the Taylor family, who have been a staple in Hull’s entertainment scene for nearly six decades.
About the Taylor Family
The Taylor family, led by David Taylor, has a long-standing legacy in bringing thrilling rides to Hull. At 69, David shares his passion for the fair, calling it “better than going to Tenerife on holiday.” His cousin, Douglas, describes the fair atmosphere as “very social.”
Attractions Offered
David owns several popular attractions including:
- The Bomber
- The Waltzer
- The Miami
- Bungee Ride
- The Twister
“They’re all mine,” David proudly states about his collection of rides. The family travels extensively, taking their attractions worldwide.
Global Ventures
Each summer, the Taylors head to Iceland, a tradition they’ve maintained for 35 years. Their operations also extend to various Caribbean countries and New Zealand. David explains, “We’ll go where there’s work; that’s what the big rides are about.”
The Life of a Showman
Douglas reflects on their lifestyle, noting it as a “good life.” Even though he plans to retire at 60, the joy of being a showman makes it feel less like work. “It can’t be classed as work if you enjoy it,” he states.
Event Schedule
Hull Fair is set to open its gates at 17:00 BST and will continue until Saturday, October 18. This year’s fair promises excitement, especially with the debut of the Big Ben Tower Star Flyer ride, offering families and visitors an unforgettable experience.
