HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Series Welcomes Peter Serafinowicz as Peeves

Peter Serafinowicz has been confirmed to portray Peeves the Poltergeist in HBO’s highly anticipated “Harry Potter” series. Peeves, a mischievous ghost famous for his antics at Hogwarts, is a character beloved by fans but was never featured in the original film adaptations.

Peter Serafinowicz: A Versatile Actor

Known for his diverse roles, Serafinowicz’s recent projects include the live-action adaptation of “How to Train Your Dragon.” He gained recognition for his performances as Edgar Covington in “Parks and Recreation” and as Denarian Saal in the acclaimed “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Additionally, Serafinowicz has a rich background in voice acting, portraying characters like Darth Maul in “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” and Big Daddy in “Sing” and its sequel.

Peeves in the Original Film Series

Fans remember that Peeves was initially slated to be portrayed by the late British comedian Rik Mayall. Although he filmed some scenes, the character was ultimately omitted from the final cuts due to time constraints.

JB Perrette, president of global streaming and games at WBD, highlighted the production’s meticulous nature, promising a narrative that goes beyond the original films. “This is the streaming event of the decade,” he stated, emphasizing the rich storytelling possibilities.
