Police Arrest Woman with Multiple Drugs in Traffic Stop

Sault police officers conducted a traffic stop early Tuesday morning, revealing a significant drug operation involving a woman. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Patrick Street and Henrietta Avenue. The vehicle, lacking a rear licence plate, prompted the officers to pull it over.

Discovery of Drugs During Traffic Stop

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers identified the driver as Amanda Wamboldt. During their interaction, they noticed several drugs inside the car, leading to her arrest. A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered:

  • Approximately 36.72 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Approximately 17.95 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 66 tablets of suspected oxycodone
  • Approximately 5.91 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • Weigh scales
  • Drug packaging materials
  • Other drug paraphernalia
  • Approximately $180 in Canadian currency

The total estimated street value of the drugs seized is around $9,214, indicating a serious violation of drug trafficking laws.

Charges Filed Against Amanda Wamboldt

Wamboldt faces multiple charges, including:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Oxycodone)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5,000
  • Drive Motor Vehicle, Fail to Display Two Plates (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Fail to Surrender Insurance Card (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

It is important to note that the allegations against Wamboldt have not yet been tested in court. She is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Following the arrest, she remains in custody as she awaits a bail hearing.
