Chilliwack Power Outage Leaves Over 2,700 Residents Without Electricity Tuesday

On Tuesday afternoon, over 2,700 residents in Chilliwack, Cultus Lake, Yarrow, and the Chilliwack River Valley experienced a significant power outage. The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m., leaving many without electricity.

Details of the Chilliwack Power Outage

According to BC Hydro spokesperson Kevin Aquino, the outage was primarily caused by high winds. Reports indicated that branches and trees were falling onto power lines, disrupting electricity supply across the affected areas.

Response and Restoration Efforts

BC Hydro crews were dispatched promptly to address the situation. As of 7:06 p.m., Aquino mentioned the crews were en route to assess the damage and estimate repair times. “Once our crews arrive, they’ll be able to determine how long repairs will take and restoration times,” he added.
