Concrete Utility Pole Collapses on Car After Crash: Two Men Seriously Injured

A serious accident occurred early Sunday morning in Combas, located in the Gard region of France. At approximately 3:00 AM on June 7, 2026, a car struck a concrete utility pole on the D999 road.
Details of the Incident
Two young men, aged 21 and 25, were involved in the crash. The vehicle veered off the road and collided with the pole, causing it to break and fall onto the car’s roof. The impact trapped both men inside the vehicle.
Emergency Response
Firefighters from the Gard region quickly arrived at the scene to find the two men seriously injured. The situation required a complex extrication procedure as both individuals remained trapped in the wreckage.
- The utility company, Enedis, was also dispatched to manage electrical hazards.
- A crane was employed by the firefighters to safely lift the fallen pole off the car.
After successfully clearing the area of any electrical risks, the rescue team was able to extract the injured men from the car. Emergency medical services from Nîmes and Lunel provided immediate care.
Victim Transport and Hospitalization
- The 21-year-old passenger was transported to the Montpellier hospital.
- The 25-year-old driver was taken to the Nîmes hospital for treatment.
