Atalanta is focusing on revamping its midfield following significant departures. Ederson has left for Manchester United, generating a fee of €45 million. Additionally, Brescianini has been bought back by Fiorentina for €10 million, while Musah returns to Milan after failing to get a permanent deal.
Revamping the Midfield
The need for reinforcements in the midfield is urgent. Currently, only Mario Pasalic and De Roon, who recently turned 35, remain in the squad. De Roon’s ability to play consistently next season is questionable, especially after participating in the World Cup.
New Leadership and Strategy
New sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has begun his role at the Zingonia training center. He will collaborate closely with CEO Luca Percassi. Their strategy targets acquiring at least two starting midfielders and an additional player for the bench.

Inter is reportedly interested in Palestra, a player valued at €50 million. At the same time, Milan has explored options for Bellanova and Scamacca, with the latter being pursued by Rome’s Gasperini for approximately €30 million.
New head coach Maurizio Sarri is expected to influence key decisions regarding these players. His tactical approach will likely revert to a 4-3-3 formation, necessitating an assessment of players who struggled last season.
This includes Bellanova, Sulemana, Samardzic, and Scamacca, who despite his 14 goals, needs to adapt to Sarri’s vision. Daniel Maldini, who has been on loan at Lazio, may also get another chance at Atalanta after his lackluster performance over the past year and a half.
