Trump Visits Walter Reed for Routine Annual Checkup, Six Months After Last Exam

President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for his routine annual checkup. This visit takes place just six months after his last examination there, which the White House described as his annual physical.

Details of the Checkup

The White House has not clarified the reasons for the second checkup within such a short time frame. According to Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the president will meet with troops during his visit on Friday morning.

  • Date of visit: Friday morning
  • Location: Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
  • Purpose: Routine yearly checkup and meeting with troops

Health Background

At 79 years old, President Trump has access to basic medical care at the White House. However, he typically goes to Walter Reed for more comprehensive evaluations.

Results from his April physical showed no significant abnormalities, apart from minor sun damage and scarring on his right ear, which stems from an assassination attempt in July 2024. The president had also undergone a colonoscopy during that physical, with a follow-up recommended for 2027.

Recent Health Issues

The president has been seen with swollen ankles and a bruised hand on various occasions. However, Leavitt stated that an examination in April indicated normal health. A more recent assessment revealed that he has chronic venous insufficiency.

  • Chronic venous insufficiency affects blood flow in the legs.
  • There are no signs of serious conditions like deep vein thrombosis.
  • The president is reported to be in overall excellent health.

The White House also noted that the president’s bruised hand is likely due to frequent handshaking during his engagements.

Upcoming Plans

After the medical visit, President Trump is considering a trip to the Middle East. This comes shortly after announcing the initial phase of a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas.

The public will await the outcomes of his checkup and look forward to the president’s subsequent activities.
