Jill Scott, the former Lioness, is ready to embark on a challenging adventure for Sport Relief. She will undertake a remarkable 388-mile cycle and marathon journey from Wembley Stadium to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light. This five-day challenge is set to commence on Monday, June 8, and conclude on Friday, June 12.

Scott reflected on her own childhood, noting the importance of access to youth clubs and sports. She credited her coaches and physical education teachers for guiding her to success in football. Many young people lack the opportunities she had, which drives her passion for this cause.
She emphasized the vital role of Sport Relief projects in fostering a sense of belonging for young people. Scott remarked, “A lot of young people say they feel lonely, they feel disconnected.” The project aims to address this issue by providing essential support and community connections.
Appeal for Support
Scott urged members of the public to support the campaign. “If you are in a position to help, please make sure you do,” she expressed. She highlighted the significance of green spaces and youth clubs in enabling individuals to achieve their dreams.
Progress in Women’s Football
Scott also shared her observations regarding the evolution of women’s football. She noted a positive change in the participation of girls in sports. “Times have definitely changed,” she stated. “The fact that I didn’t think about it, I was like, that’s how far we’ve come.”
Her challenge will kick off with a 112-mile ride to Villa Park, followed by a 99-mile ride to Everton. Day three includes a 38-mile run into Manchester, then a 111-mile cycle toward the North East. The finale will be a 28-mile marathon leading to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.
Through her Sport Relief challenge, Jill Scott aims to inspire others and raise awareness of the benefits of sports for youth and communities.
