UK Weather Alert: 30°C Heat Surge to Hit 16 Counties Soon

Weather models indicate that a significant heat surge is anticipated in the UK. With temperature predictions soaring back to 30°C, 16 counties are expected to experience this warmth shortly. This comes after a heatwave that elevated temperatures to 35°C last week, followed by a subsequent drop to seasonal averages.
Upcoming Heat Surge Predictions
The Met Office forecasts a gradual increase in temperatures this week. While many regions will see highs of 19°C to 22°C, particularly in the south-east, the GFS weather model predicts a striking return to 30°C as early as June 11. This rise is primarily expected around London.
County Temperature Expectations
According to weather predictions, the following counties are likely to see temperatures of 28°C or more:
- Yorkshire
- Derbyshire
- Nottinghamshire
- Cheshire
- Lancashire
- Essex
- Hertfordshire
- Surrey
- Kent
- Sussex
- Hampshire
- Berkshire
- Buckinghamshire
- Wiltshire
- Oxfordshire
- Gloucestershire
Weather Forecast for Mid-June
On June 15, temperatures are expected to be similarly high, possibly reaching 28°C even as far north as Yorkshire. Following this, high temperatures may persist into June 16, with continued predictions of 30°C in the south-east.
Thunderstorm Warnings
While the upcoming spell of warmth is promising, the Met Office has cautioned about the potential for thunderstorms. Their forecast for June 16 to 30 suggests the beginning of the period will be relatively stable due to high pressure, promoting dry conditions across the UK. However, the risk of showers and storms increases as low pressure systems move in, particularly in southern areas.
This forecast indicates a mixed bag of weather conditions, with plenty of warmth but also the possibility of unpredictable storms.
