ITVX Fast Forward Bug Troubles Sky Glass, Stream UK TV Users

Sky Glass and Sky Stream users are currently facing a frustrating issue with the ITVX app. This bug causes shows and movies to skip to the end, reporting them as watched. Initially observed at the beginning of last week, the problem persists and is aggravating many users.
Details of the ITVX Bug
The issue often arises when viewers start a program or after an ad break. Feedback from the Sky Community Forum indicates that the bug primarily manifests after users attempt to bypass ads using Sky’s Ad Skipping feature. However, some users report encountering the bug without utilizing this function.
Understanding Ad Skipping with ITVX
Sky offers a paid Ad Skipping feature, allowing subscribers to fast-forward through advertisements in On Demand content across various apps, including ITVX, STV Player, and All4. The function is controlled via the ‘Skip Ads’ button on the remote. Unfortunately, this feature appears to trigger the ITVX bug.
Customer Support and Solutions
- Sky’s support team recommends resetting devices through the ‘Settings’ menu.
- This solution often provides only a temporary fix and may lead to loss of personalized settings and playlists.
On May 29, a member of Sky’s Community Team acknowledged the problem and stated they have escalated the issue to support teams. They assured customers that efforts to resolve the matter with ITV have begun.
Experiences and Recommendations
User experiences vary significantly. Some individuals may temporarily avoid the bug by not skipping ads or resetting their devices, while others continue to face disruptions regardless of their actions. The most effective workaround appears to be accessing the ITVX app on an alternative device or platform. However, this solution is far from ideal for those who have paid for Ad Skipping functionality.
As customers await a software patch, the hope is that Sky and ITV will provide an effective solution soon.
