Essential Guide to TTC, GO, UP, and Road Closures This Weekend

This weekend in Toronto, significant road and transit closures will affect travel due to planned maintenance and special events. These closures are part of ongoing preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be held in the city.
Transit Updates: TTC and UP Express Services
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will implement service changes on Line 2. From Saturday to Sunday, shuttle buses will replace subway service between Jane and Ossington stations. This change is necessary for critical track work, including the installation of a new track switch at Keele Station.
- Closed stations: Runnymede, High Park, Lansdowne, and Dufferin.
- The Indian Grove entrance at Keele Station will also be closed.
- Regular subway service will resume on Monday, June 1.
Additionally, the UP Express rail service will be adjusted for track upgrades over the same weekend. Trains will operate every 30 minutes instead of the usual schedule, resuming normal service on Monday morning.
GO Transit Modifications and Road Closures
GO Transit services will also experience modifications. On Saturday and Sunday, Lakeshore West rail service will be disrupted due to major track upgrades between Aldershot GO and Mimico GO. Replacement buses will stop at several key stations, including:
- West Harbour
- Aldershot
- Burlington
- Oakville
- Clarkson GO
Passengers will be directed toward Bramalea GO, where they can access the Kitchener line to reach Union Station. Furthermore, the Barrie line will also see replacement buses running due to similar upgrades, with stops at all stations except Downsview Park GO and Union Station.
Major Road Closures for Events
On Sunday, motorists in Toronto should anticipate significant road closures for the Bike for Brain Health event. Key closures will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m., impacting the following routes:
- Don Valley Parkway: Closed from Gardiner Expressway to York Mills Road.
- Gardiner Expressway: Closed from South Kingsway to Don Valley Parkway.
- No access to Gardiner Expressway at British Columbia Road and Lakeshore Boulevard West.
Road closures will also take place around the Aga Khan Museum, located at 77 Wynford Drive, for the duration of the event. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays.
In summary, this weekend’s transportation landscape in Toronto will be significantly altered due to planned TTC and GO Transit service adjustments, as well as road closures related to special events. Regular services will be restored on Monday, June 1.
