Huckenbeck Seizes Glasgow Max, Advances to FIM SGP Challenge

German speedway rider Kai Huckenbeck is making strides toward a return to the Speedway Grand Prix (SGP) scene. He achieved a perfect score in the Glasgow qualifier on Saturday, securing a place in the 2026 FIM SGP Challenge.

Huckenbeck’s Glasgow Success

Huckenbeck dominated the competition, finishing with a maximum of 15 points from five consecutive victories. This performance will take him to the Challenge hosted at the former FIM Italian Speedway GP venue, Terenzano, on July 25.

Competition Highlights

The event is crucial, as the top four riders will qualify for the 2027 FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship. Alongside Huckenbeck, Australian champion Jack Holder secured second place with 12 points after winning a run-off against Great Britain’s Anders Rowe, who also advanced.

Jakobsen and Harris also claimed their spots after beating former world number three Maciej Janowski in a run-off for the final qualification places. Harris had previously qualified for the elite competition during the last FIM SGP Challenge held in Italy, back in 2014.

Notable Exclusions

Swedish competitor Victor Palovaara missed out on qualification, finishing with nine points. British rider Adam Ellis was eliminated after scoring just seven points.
