Canada Day 2026: Exciting Program Unveiled!

The Honourable Marc Miller, Canada’s Minister of Identity and Culture, has unveiled the exciting program for Canada Day 2026. Celebrations will occur nationwide on July 1, showcasing Canadian identity through art, music, and traditions.

Canada Day 2026 Celebrations Across the Nation

On this special day, Canadians will come together in their communities as well as in the heart of the nation’s capital, Ottawa. Canada Day offers a unique opportunity to celebrate and reminisce, showcasing pride in our national colors.

Official National Ceremony

The official Canada Day celebrations will kick off with a national ceremony at noon (ET) from LeBreton Flats Park, Ottawa. This event will be broadcast across various platforms, including:

  • ICI RDI
  • ICI Télé
  • ICI TOU.TV
  • Radio-Canada.ca
  • CBC Television
  • CBC Gem
  • YouTube channels of Radio-Canada and CBC News

Attendees will witness significant moments in Canadian history and hear from inspiring guests, with further details to be announced soon.

Evening Concert – Celebrate Our Canada!

The evening concert, titled “Celebrate Our Canada!”, will take place at the same venue from 8 PM to 10 PM (ET). This event will also enjoy widespread broadcasting, highlighting a musical celebration uniting generations across Canada.

Special performances will originate from Moncton, New Brunswick, and Winnipeg, Manitoba. The line-up includes:

  • Alessia Cara
  • Barenaked Ladies
  • Diane Dufresne
  • Isabelle Boulay
  • Many more

The bilingual show will feature performances in both Quebec Sign Language (LSQ) and American Sign Language (ASL).

Ô Canada! Contest

Returning for its second year, the Ô Canada! contest invites Canadians to submit short videos wishing everyone a “Happy Canada Day!” Selected submissions will be featured during the evening concert broadcast, with participants eligible to win a VIA Rail Canada trip in 2026 and a VIP experience at Canada Day 2027. Each participant can submit one entry.

Festivities in the Capital Region

The celebrations in Ottawa and Gatineau will include a variety of performances and activities for all ages, culminating in the spectacular Canada Day fireworks sponsored by Tim Hortons. Four official sites will host celebrations:

  • LeBreton Flats Park: Family-friendly activities, professional dance performances, outdoor films, and lively DJ sets.
  • Parliament Hill: A venue showcasing Canadian traditions, including ceremonial guard events and aerial displays by the Snowbirds.
  • Supreme Court of Canada: A cozy atmosphere with activities like yoga workshops, improv matches, and live broadcasts of the national celebrations.
  • Vieux-Hull: Ideal for family activities during the day and captivating evening performances.
