Blue Jays’ Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Remains Absent from Lineup Against Marlins

The Toronto Blue Jays are facing a notable setback as first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. remains absent from the lineup for a second consecutive game. Guerrero is nursing a right elbow contusion suffered after he was hit by a pitch during a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
Guerrero’s Injury Details
Guerrero was struck by a 92.1 mph sinker thrown by Pirates pitcher Mitch Keller, resulting in immediate self-removal from the game. Following the incident, the Blue Jays reported that X-rays showed no fracture, confirming the injury as a right elbow contusion.
Current Status of Guerrero
The team has labeled his injury day-to-day. Despite being in uniform for Monday’s loss against the Miami Marlins, Guerrero was not called to play on Tuesday. Manager John Schneider indicated that Guerrero had a hitting session and noted he is feeling “a little better,” though he remains “still pretty sore” when extending his arm.
Lineup Changes
As a result of Guerrero’s absence, Lenyn Sosa is set to play first base and bat ninth in the lineup against the Marlins. In addition, Nathan Lukes has also been reported as absent from the starting roster, although he remains available to play. Lukes had recently returned from an injury list stint due to a hamstring strain.
