Flames Place Huberdeau, Pospisil on Injured Reserve List

The Calgary Flames are adjusting their roster ahead of the season, placing key players on the injured reserve list. This decision affects forwards Jonathan Huberdeau and Martin Pospisil, who will miss the start of the season due to injuries.

Roster Updates: Injured Players

Jonathan Huberdeau suffered an injury after a collision with goaltender Kevin Lankinen during a preseason match against the Vancouver Canucks. The 32-year-old forward had an impressive performance last season, clocking 28 goals and 62 points in 81 games.

Martin Pospisil is also sidelined with an undisclosed injury. Last season, he achieved career highs with 25 points, including four goals and 21 assists, while accumulating 84 penalty minutes. His performance earned him a three-year contract extension.

New Additions to the Roster

As the Flames prepare for the opening night, they have finalized their roster, which includes 15 forwards, eight defensemen, and two goaltenders. Among the notable additions are:

  • Matvei Gridin (Forward): Expected to take Huberdeau’s position.
  • Zayne Parekh (Defenseman): Aiming for a consistent presence in the lineup.

Both players are joining the ranks during the team’s preparations. Parekh, at 19 years old, skated as an extra defenseman in practice, while Gridin is set to play alongside center Morgan Frost and right-winger Matt Coronato.
