Caerphilly Mom Transforms Home into Kid’s Paradise, Receives Heartfelt Messages

A mother in Caerphilly has invested over £3,000 to create a magnificent garden space for children and families. This innovative project, completed over ten days, has resulted in an enchanting area measuring 18 feet long and 8 feet wide, designed to delight visitors.
Transformation of a Home into a Kid’s Paradise
Kathryn Cribbes, 47, utilized materials like pool noodles and artificial leaves to craft this playground. The garden features fairy lights, lanterns, and heartfelt handwritten wishes from guests, adding to its magical atmosphere. It serves a dual purpose, as Kathryn raises funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through donations made by visitors.
Building the Enchanted Garden
- Kathryn dedicated 10 days to construction.
- Materials included:
- Eight pool noodles
- Six meters of armature wire
- Insulation boards measuring 2 meters by 1 meter
- Expanding foam
- Hundreds of artificial leaves
- The garden features themed elements from previous installations, including Halloween and Christmas.
Assisted by her daughter Lowry Roberts, 22, and her husband Graeme, 55, a scaffolder, Kathryn designed a tree constructed from pool noodles and insulation boards. The project required creativity and teamwork, with the tree itself taking three days to complete.
Community Engagement and Heartfelt Wishes
Visitors are invited to write their wishes and place them on the tree. Each guest can enjoy refreshments such as tea, cupcakes, and snacks, making the experience more enjoyable. There are also activities available for children, including coloring pages and teddy bear picnic areas.
- Treat boxes cost £40 per 50 boxes.
- Operating expenses reach approximately £80 for every 50 visitors.
Kathryn expressed her joy in witnessing the public’s interactions with the space. She mentions that some visitors’ wishes are deeply moving. A significant moment was when her father, Gwyn Roberts, 80, added the inaugural wish. After suffering health complications, his presence in the garden holds special meaning for her.
A Personal Touch and Community Spirit
Despite the financial struggles of managing the exhibit, Kathryn’s passion for creating joy in her community remains strong. She believes that fostering happiness and togetherness is essential, especially in difficult times.
Overall, Kathryn Cribbes’s efforts in Caerphilly have transformed her home into a beloved destination, celebrating the spirit of childhood and community engagement through heartfelt wishes and enjoyable experiences. This initiative showcases the power of creativity in bringing people together, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who visits her enchanting garden.
