Tucson, Pima County Distribute Sandbags for Potential Flooding

As potential storms approach southern Arizona, Tucson and Pima County are preparing for possible flooding by distributing sandbags. The weather forecast indicates rain starting this Friday and continuing at least until Tuesday, with a possibility of several inches accumulating, which could lead to flooding.

Tucson and Pima County Sandbag Distribution

To assist residents, Tucson has opened several sandbag locations. Necessary supplies include a shovel, as residents must fill their own bags.

Sandbag Locations

  • Hi Corbett Field: 700 South Randolph Way, Tucson
  • Arivaca: 16091 West Universal Ranch Road
  • Mount Lemmon: East Carter Canyon Road and North Sabino Canyon Parkway
  • Catalina/Oro Valley: 3885 East Golder Ranch Drive (Golder Ranch Fire District)
  • Sahuarita: East Dawson Road and South Country Club Road
  • South Tucson Area: 1313 South Mission Road (Pima County Maintenance Yard)
  • Ajo Highway Area: South Camino Verde and West Ajo Hwy (fire station)
  • Vail: 14550 East Sands Ranch Road (Rincon Valley Fire Station)
  • Ajo: 1131 North Ajo Well Road (Pima County Maintenance Yard)

Residents can fill up to 20 sandbags per vehicle at the designated sites. It is recommended to wear gloves while handling sandbags.
