Snowbirds’ Spectacular White Rock Show Scheduled for August 12

The renowned Canadian Snowbirds are set to perform at the Wings Over White Rock event on August 12, 2026. Despite an announcement about a hiatus that could last until the early 2030s, the iconic performance remains on schedule. Scott Harrold, a long-time White Rock resident, expressed excitement about the upcoming show.
Wings Over White Rock: An Anticipated Event
Harrold emphasized that the event was secured before the federal government’s May 19 announcement regarding the Snowbirds’ future. The decision to ground the team stems from a shift to new aircraft, specifically the CT-157 Siskin II, which will replace the Canadair CT-114 Tutor. This transition represents a significant moment in Canadian aviation history, as the Tutor has served since 1963.
Event Details
- Date: August 12, 2026

This performance will be the Snowbirds’ first full show in White Rock since the COVID-19 pandemic led to restrictions on large gatherings. Harrold noted that while the show is listed as a flypast, it will be a full-scale performance, stirring emotions of pride and nostalgia among attendees.
Impact of the Snowbirds on the Community
Harrold highlighted the significance of the Snowbirds to Canadian culture. The event is expected to attract large crowds, with past performances bringing in up to 20,000 spectators. Attendees often express their patriotic sentiments during these shows, reinforcing the Snowbirds’ status as a beloved Canadian institution.
Additionally, the event supports the CH.I.L.D. Foundation, which benefits from merchandise sales and on-site donations. The recent passing of the foundation’s president, Mary McCarthy Parsons, adds a layer of bittersweet remembrance to the upcoming performance. Parsons had emphasized the long-standing collaboration between the Snowbirds and the foundation, which has contributed to substantial fundraising efforts.
Safety Measures During the Show
To ensure safety during the performance, a no-go zone will be established on the water, prohibiting any watercraft from entering the area below the show. Airspace restrictions will also be enforced, prohibiting drones and imposing penalties for violations.
Looking to the Future
Though the Snowbirds face a temporary hiatus, Harrold remains optimistic about their return. He encourages a large turnout for the event, viewing it as a crucial part of Canadian heritage. The Wings Over White Rock show promises to be a memorable experience, celebrating the spirit of Canada through the artistry and pride embodied by the Snowbirds.
