Québec to Subsidize Salaries for Young Graduates Hires

The government of Québec has introduced a new salary subsidy aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and non-profit organizations. This initiative seeks to support the employment of young graduates in the region.

Subsidy Details for Young Graduates

This subsidy targets newly hired workers aged 16 to 30 who have recently graduated. The coverage includes the first 16 weeks of their salary, which can significantly benefit employers during the initial phases of employment.

Eligibility and Coverage

  • Workers must be aged 16 to 30 years.
  • Eligible graduates must be hired between April 1, 2025, and December 31, 2026.

The subsidy amounts vary based on the type of organization:

  • For SMEs: Up to 50% of the minimum wage.
  • For non-profits: Up to 100% of the minimum wage.

Financial Impact

Québec has projected the total cost of this initiative to reach approximately $10 million. This investment is aimed at boosting employment opportunities for young people and supporting local businesses.
