ONCF Expands Train Services and Capacity for Eid Al Adha Travel

The national railway office, ONCF, has implemented an extensive transportation plan for Eid Al Adha 1447. This initiative aims to facilitate smoother travel during one of Morocco’s busiest holiday seasons. The special plan will be in effect from May 20 to June 7, with significant enhancements to train services and capacity.
Expanded Train Services for Eid Al Adha Travel
ONCF has announced additional trains and increased seating on the country’s primary railway routes. The goal is to provide comfort, safety, and efficient travel for all passengers during this holiday period.
Key Features of the Plan
- High-Speed Train Schedule: Al Boraq trains will operate hourly from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. between Tangier, Kenitra, Rabat, and Casablanca.
- Evening Departures: An extra train at 10 p.m. will be available on days with high demand.
- Increased Capacity: Additional Al Atlas trains will serve routes like Marrakech-Casablanca-Fez and Tangier-Fes-Oujda.
- New Connections: Enhanced services to Oujda, Nador, Khouribga, and Safi will be offered.
Regular shuttle train services (TNR) will remain operational before and after Eid, although schedules will be adapted based on passenger needs on the day of the celebration.
Enhanced Support for Travelers
To manage the expected influx of travelers, ONCF plans to increase staff presence at train stations and on trains. This will assist passengers with guidance and other needs. Additionally, technical teams will be on standby 24/7 to ensure smooth railway operations throughout the holiday.
Advance Ticket Purchases Encouraged
Passengers are urged to buy round-trip tickets ahead of time. Tickets can be purchased through various platforms, including:
- Train station ticket offices
- Automatic ticket machines
- ONCF website and mobile app
- Partner agencies like Cash Plus, Barid Cash, and Tasshilat
This year, Morocco will observe Eid Al Adha on Wednesday, May 27. This significant celebration, known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” draws families together for prayer and communal meals, generating high travel demand across the nation.
