Belleville Police released their May 19, 2026, crime report, detailing a series of incidents that occurred in the city. The report highlights key events involving domestic disputes and impaired driving.

Domestic Disputes in Belleville

On May 15, Belleville Police responded to a report of a domestic violence incident at 10:22 AM in the city’s west end. The incident involved a verbal altercation between a male and female. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that a previous dispute had escalated, leading to the male physically pushing the female.

The 30-year-old male resident was arrested and charged with assault. Following his arrest, he was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in July.

Another Incident on May 17

Another case of intimate partner violence occurred on May 17 at approximately 9:30 PM. Police again responded to a residence in the west end, where a male and female were involved in a heated dispute.

During this altercation, the male slapped the female and attempted to restrain her to prevent her from leaving. This incident led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Belleville man. He was charged and is currently awaiting a bail hearing.

Impaired Driving Incident

An impaired driving incident was reported on May 16 at around 1:00 AM. While conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in the east end, officers noticed a vehicle make a sudden U-turn and speed away.

A short time later, authorities found the vehicle overturned in a parking lot. The 39-year-old driver, Kelvin Jones, was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and operating while impaired. He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in June. Fortunately, no serious injuries resulted from the incident.
