Stourbridge Tesco Store Plans New Security Arrangements
Tesco Stores Limited is planning new security arrangements for its Stourbridge store in the Crown Centre. The company has submitted a minor variation to its premises licence.
Proposed Security Changes
The proposed amendment would replace the ongoing requirement for constant security during licensable activities with a more strategic, risk-based approach. This shift aims to optimize security presence according to specific needs.
Assessment Process
- Security assessments will identify the necessity for SIA-registered personnel.
- Deployments will be made based on these evaluations.
- Police input will be factored into the assessments.
- Review of assessments will occur after any relevant incidents.
- Police can request access to current assessments at reasonable times.
Timeline for Public Feedback
Tesco’s application was filed on May 12. The public has until May 27 to provide comments or concerns regarding the proposed changes. All feedback will be directed to Dudley Council for consideration.
This initiative by Tesco represents a shift towards a more flexible and responsive security model at the Stourbridge store, aiming to enhance safety while being mindful of resource allocation.
