Armed Forces Qualifying Kicks Off at Indy, Presented by PPG

Felix Rosenqvist showcased impressive speed during the opening round of the PPG Presents Armed Forces Qualifying at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Swedish driver achieved a remarkable four-lap average speed of 232.599 mph, making him the standout performer in the initial qualifying sessions for the 110th Indianapolis 500.
Event Overview
This year’s qualifying event took place on the 2.5-mile oval track, where 33 drivers competed for a chance to secure their positions in the prestigious race scheduled for May 24. Rosenqvist, driving the No. 60 SiriusXM Honda for Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian, was the 11th driver to make his qualifying attempt.

Qualifying Format
The top 12 drivers will participate in another qualifying session, scheduled to start at 4 p.m. ET. Each of these drivers will make a single four-lap qualifying attempt. The session format will see drivers attempt their qualifying laps in ascending order based on speed, starting with the 12th-fastest driver, Kyffin Simpson.
Advancing to the Firestone Fast Six
The six fastest drivers from the Top 12 session will progress to the Firestone Fast Six, taking place at 6 p.m. ET. This final session will determine the starting positions for the first two rows and award the NTT P1 Award and a $100,000 bonus for the pole winner.
