Ncuti Gatwa Critiques ‘Doctor Who’ in ‘SNL U.K.’ Monologue

Ncuti Gatwa, the star of “Doctor Who,” recently addressed the show during his monologue on the finale of “Saturday Night Live U.K.” on May 16. His remarks humorously critiqued the dwindling enthusiasm surrounding the series, especially after the Season 15 finale where his character, the Doctor, regenerated into Billie Piper.

Ncuti Gatwa’s Humor on ‘Doctor Who’

In his performance, Gatwa made light of his transition from the beloved role of Eric in “Sex Education” to his stint on “Doctor Who.” He quipped, “I’ve had so many fantastic roles in my career. Millions of you watched me as Eric, and then about 12 of you watched me in ‘Doctor Who.’ Maybe that’s why I kept crying.”

Gatwa expressed his gratitude for the role despite its mixed reception. He mentioned that it was a significant milestone for him, stating, “It was the first time my parents were truly proud of my career. When I told them I got the part, they said, ‘Finally, a doctor in the family.’”
