Leaked Drake Song Hints at LeBron James Switching Teams

Drake’s upcoming album, “Iceman,” is poised to drop on Friday, marking the ninth entry in his successful discography. Ahead of its release, a track purportedly titled “1AM in Albany” leaked on social media late Wednesday night. This song is part of a series in which Drake narrates stories tied to specific times and cities, a concept he first introduced with “9AM in Dallas” in 2009.

The lyrics reportedly include subtle references to Kendrick Lamar, a nod to their ongoing rivalry. However, fans quickly noted jabs aimed at NBA superstar LeBron James. The relationship between Drake and James has been well documented; they were once close friends, with James even performing alongside Drake during a concert. Their camaraderie appears to have soured, particularly amid James’s recent alignment with Kendrick Lamar during the latter’s Super Bowl halftime show performance.

Drake’s Take on LeBron James

In one notable line from the leaked track, Drake insinuates, “I shouldn’t even be shocked to see you in that arena, because you always made your career off of switching teams up.” This reference highlights James’s history of changing teams, including moves from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat, back to the Cavaliers, and ultimately joining the Los Angeles Lakers. As James is set to enter free agency this summer, the speculation about his next move intensifies.

Further Intriguing Lyrics

Another line from the song, “please stop asking what’s going on with 23 and me. I’m a real n—-, and he’s not, it’s in my DNA,” playfully suggests a contrast between the two. Should the lyrics be authentic, they might signal a rift between the two icons, marking a departure from their previous collaborations.

Drake’s Musical Journey

“Iceman” will be Drake’s first solo album since “For All The Dogs,” released in October 2023. His debut album, “Thank Me Later,” came out in 2010, followed by other critically acclaimed projects, such as “Take Care” in 2011 and “Nothing Was The Same” in 2013.

As the release day approaches, fans eagerly await the full impact of “Iceman,” especially the implications it may carry for the relationships between Drake, LeBron James, and Kendrick Lamar.
