Capital Region Chamber VP Allegedly Tried to Entice Minor for Violent Acts

A vice president from the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce was arrested on Tuesday amid serious federal charges. Pete Bardunias, 59, allegedly communicated with a girl he believed to be 15 years old. However, this individual was an undercover law enforcement officer.

Details of the Allegations

According to court documents, Bardunias used a social networking service to interact with women, including minors. The undercover officer’s profile initially presented her as a 19-year-old. However, during their conversations, she revealed her supposed age as 15.

Beginning on September 25, Bardunias expressed violent sexual interests. He described disturbing actions he wished to perform, including bondage and physical violence. The messages included phrases such as “seeing you hurt, and suffocating, maybe even hanged while naked and in pain.”

Meet-Up Arrangements

Bardunias also allegedly discussed creating a “torture chamber” and mentioned desires for gang rape. He communicated his wish to meet the girl and claimed he was looking for someone like her for illicit activities.

Further complicating the situation, Bardunias arranged to meet the girl near a high school, believing she was a student there. On the day of the meeting, which was set in a park in Warren County, he circled the block two times before being stopped by law enforcement.

Investigation Findings

  • Upon stopping, he consented to a vehicle and device search.
  • Authorities discovered materials related to bondage and masochistic practices on his devices.
  • At his residence, investigators found a collection of sex toys, including a ball gag and restraints.

Despite his claims that the conversations were mere fantasies, the evidence collected suggests otherwise. Bardunias now faces charges of attempted enticement of a minor.

Chamber’s Response

The Capital Region Chamber’s President, Mark Eagan, acknowledged Bardunias’ arrest. The organization has placed him on unpaid suspension pending a full investigation. Eagan stated that further comments would not be issued at this time.

This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding online safety, especially for minors. It raises questions about the responsibilities of adults in such interactions and the implications of digital communication.
