Andy Murray Joins Jack Draper’s Coaching Team After Jamie Delgado Departure

Andy Murray is set to join Jack Draper’s coaching team following the departure of Jamie Delgado. Draper, a talented 24-year-old tennis player, has faced numerous injuries throughout his career that have affected his performance and ranking.

Jack Draper’s Injury Struggles

Due to a knee tendon problem, Jack Draper will skip this month’s French Open. His prolonged absence has caused him to fall outside the top 75 rankings after the Italian Open.

Future Plans

  • Draper intends to return for the grass-court season after Roland Garros.
  • He is considering a comeback at Stuttgart in early June, where he previously secured his first ATP title in 2024.
  • Queen’s in London is scheduled for the following week, presenting another opportunity for Draper to compete.

Coaching Changes

In October, Draper appointed Jamie Delgado as his head coach. Delgado had previously worked with Andy Murray during his ascent to world number one. However, due to injuries, Draper and Delgado only collaborated at four tournaments this season.

Season Overview

Draper has struggled significantly with injuries. After missing almost six months following last year’s US Open due to a bruised humerus in his serving arm, he made a brief return. He played for Great Britain in the Davis Cup against Norway before resuming his ATP Tour participation in February in Dubai.

Since then, Draper has only competed in eight tour matches and had to retire from the clay-court season due to a knee injury sustained in Barcelona.

Murray’s involvement as a coach signals a strategic shift for Draper as he aims for a successful comeback.
