Lawyer Daniel Rochefort Charged with Sexual Assault on a Minor

Lawyer Daniel Rochefort is facing serious allegations involving sexual assault on a minor. New charges were brought against him on Monday, detailing accusations of touching and sexually assaulting a minor over a period of five years. This follows prior accusations related to the production of abusive and exploitative child sexual material.

The 72-year-old attorney was arrested last Thursday by the Service de police de la ville de Montréal (SPVM). According to an indictment obtained by La Presse, Rochefort was apprehended after he was caught in a sting operation by an undercover police officer posing as a 12-year-old girl.
Current Legal Situation
Currently detained at Bordeaux, Rochefort attended his court hearing via videoconference. He faces nine charges, which include:
- Sexual assault
- Encouragement of sexual contact
- Touching a minor
These incidents allegedly occurred in Montreal and abroad between 2007 and 2012, during which the victim was sometimes under 14 years old. During the hearing, when asked if he agreed to postpone his bail hearing to Thursday, Rochefort appeared resigned, stating, “I don’t want to be here, but I think I have no choice, so I will consent.”
