Matthew Tkachuk Joins U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds for Fort Lauderdale Air Show
The Florida Panthers announced that Matthew Tkachuk will fly with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds during the upcoming Fort Lauderdale Air Show. This event is scheduled for May 8, 2026, as part of the Air Force’s ‘Hometown Heroes’ initiative. Tkachuk will serve as a civilian passenger in the backseat of an F-16 Fighting Falcon piloted by Lt. Col. Tyler “Wrath” Keener.

The practice flight will take place on May 8, just ahead of the air show’s public performances on May 9 and 10. The Fort Lauderdale Air Show will occur over Fort Lauderdale Beach.
Matthew Tkachuk’s Achievements
Since joining the Florida Panthers for the 2022-23 NHL season, Tkachuk has made a significant impact. His contributions have led the team to three consecutive Stanley Cup Finals, resulting in back-to-back championships over the last two seasons. In the 2022-23 season, he was nominated for the Hart Trophy, awarded to the league’s most valuable player.
