Security Ejects UFC Star Josh Hokit After White House Press Conference Outburst

UFC star Josh Hokit faced removal from a press conference aimed at promoting the upcoming UFC White House fight card. This incident occurred after he launched a controversial outburst, targeting his fellow fighters with inflammatory remarks. The press conference was held to promote an unusual event scheduled for June 14, which coincides with the 80th birthday of U.S. President Donald Trump.
UFC Event Details
The unique UFC event is set to take place on the South Lawn of the White House. This celebration marks 250 years of the United States. Hokit is scheduled to face Derrick Lewis, a fighter favored by President Trump. This match was reportedly requested by Trump following his attendance at UFC 327.
Josh Hokit: A Polarizing Figure
Hokit, at 28 years old, has garnered attention due to his theatrical style resembling that of professional wrestling. His press conference appearance included a USA-themed outfit and a series of taunts directed at prominent fighters.
Targeting Fellow Fighters
During his tirade, Hokit specifically insulted two fighters: former two-weight champion Alex Pereira and lightweight champion Ilia Topuria. His comments included:
- “I come to devour, you will know the day, you will know the hour…”
- “I’m not just gonna win, I’m gonna p* on him.”
Hokit’s remarks provoked responses from both Pereira and Topuria. Pereira, aged 38, expressed disdain for Hokit’s antics through a translator. He stated, “This guy just goes right by me, starts saying things. Why didn’t he do anything when I was there?”
Altercation at the Press Conference
The tension escalated when Topuria, frustrated by Hokit’s taunts, retaliated by throwing a bottle and a microphone at him. Following this, security intervened and removed Hokit from the scene.
Upcoming Fights and UFC 328
The press conference was part of the lead-up to UFC 328, occurring in New Jersey. The event also features Khamzat Chimaev, who is defending the middleweight title against Sean Strickland. Their previous press conference ended with Chimaev kicking Strickland, heightening the rivalry.
Meeting with President Trump
Earlier in the week, fighters including Topuria, Pereira, Gaethje, and Ciryl Gane visited President Trump in the Oval Office. During this encounter, Topuria playfully questioned Trump about the fight promotion, given Gaethje’s status as an underdog.
