New Liquidation Marie Branch Opens: Early Morning Lines in Granby

At 5 AM on Thursday morning, Nancy Maloney was prepared and waiting. Seated comfortably on a camping chair, wrapped in a warm blanket, she was the first in line for the grand opening of the Liquidation Marie store in Granby.

The excitement was palpable as employees finalized preparations ahead of the opening, scheduled for 9 AM. Louis Ducas, an employee present at the site, noted the early arrivals, stating, “The first customers at our Belœil location arrived at 5:45 AM, but 5 AM is a record.” Maloney, who was accompanied by her daughter Marie-Pierre Pepin, expressed her eagerness, saying, “I had trouble sleeping; I was worried about arriving on time.” She aimed to secure a discounted mattress available in limited quantities.

Community Anticipation for Liquidation Marie’s Opening

Further down the line, Christian Dion enjoyed a coffee as he joined the early crowd. “I’ve never attended an opening before, but with inflation, we have little choice,” he admitted. He mentioned doing things himself at home, such as making preserves and jams.

Store Expectations and Community Support

Linda Robidoux joined in, aiming to purchase spiral-shaped frozen fries for her son. Once inside, the store appeared immaculate and ready to welcome eager customers. Ducas humorously predicted a bustling environment soon, saying, “In three hours, things will be very different.” To manage the expected crowd, local police planned to monitor the area in the coming days.

Liquidation Marie’s Rapid Growth Amid Inflation

Since its establishment in 2024, Liquidation Marie has seen tremendous expansion, particularly driven by rising inflation rates. The store specializes in selling unsold items from manufacturers, offering prices up to 50% lower than traditional supermarkets.

This grand opening marked the launch of the 12th store in the Liquidation Marie chain. The founder, Marieve Breton, explained their goal for new locations, stating, “We aim for retail spaces of at least 10,000 square feet, as our previous target of 5,000 square feet has become too small.”

Future Outlook

As the customer traffic has tripled in recent years, the demand for Liquidation Marie’s offerings continues to grow. With each new store opening, the anticipation within the community only intensifies. The parking lot, however, may always feel insufficient during busy openings.
