Concerns have erupted in Chicago following an incident where local police allegedly ignored a plea for help from an ICE agent. This controversial situation arose when the agent was forced off the road by a suspect, prompting a call for immediate assistance.

In what has been described as a shocking lack of response, the dispatcher told all units to “clear out” and refrain from any action in response to the emergency call, stating, “We’re not going over there.”
Delayed Police Response
Former Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, Jody Weis, voiced his astonishment at the delayed response. He noted that although the police did eventually arrive, it took them an alarming one hour and ten minutes to respond. Weis emphasized the seriousness of the situation, particularly due to the potential risks presented by protesters and demonstrators in the area.
Reaction from Law Enforcement Officials
The incident has caught the attention of the Department of Homeland Security, which criticized Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson for establishing “ICE-free zones.” Weis did not hold back, calling the mayor’s actions “a joke” and expressing deep concerns over the current law enforcement climate in Chicago.
Additional Concerns from Former Police Officials
In a broader context, Weis also addressed a concerning report indicating that the FBI has been involved in surveillance on eight Republican senators and one GOP congressman. This investigation, referred to as Arctic Frost, included controversial measures such as collecting phone data. Weis condemned these actions as “totally outrageous,” accusing the Biden administration of weaponizing federal law enforcement agencies.
FBI’s Shift in Focus
Furthermore, Weis noted significant changes within the FBI’s partnerships, as the agency has recently distanced itself from organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League. Once considered valuable allies in gathering intelligence on hate groups, these organizations are now criticized for their focus on right-wing entities, which Weis believes has led them away from their original mission.
As tensions rise over the approach to law enforcement and political oversight, many are left questioning the priorities and decisions made by local and federal authorities.
