Phil Mickelson has officially withdrawn from the LIV Golf Virginia event as he continues to address a personal family matter. This situation has significantly impacted his 2026 tournament participation, allowing him to compete in only one event so far.

Phil Mickelson’s 2026 Tournament Participation

The 55-year-old golfer participated in just one event this year. He made an appearance at the LIV Golf tournament in South Africa back in March, where he finished tied for 48th place out of 57 competitors. Notably, he has opted out of the first four tournaments of this season.

Major Tournament Misses

  • Mickelson missed the Masters Tournament.
  • His future status for the upcoming PGA Championship remains unclear.

Career Highlights

Phil Mickelson is a six-time major champion who made history by becoming the oldest major winner at age 50, securing the PGA Championship title at Kiawah Island five years ago. His performance since then has been mixed.

  • He tied for second place at the 2023 Masters with a remarkable final-round score of 65.
  • In his last 11 major appearances, however, he has recorded seven missed cuts and no finishes within the top 40.

Team Standing and Future Plans

Mickelson leads the HyFlyers team in LIV Golf, currently sitting in 11th place out of 13 teams for the 2026 season. Their best result this season was a fifth-place finish in Mexico City.

As of now, there has been no announcement regarding Mickelson’s replacement in the LIV Virginia event field. His last social media interaction was on April 12, where he praised Rory McIlroy for his consecutive Masters victories.
