Mamata Banerjee Claims BJP Planning to Showcase Results First

Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee has raised concerns about alleged manipulation during vote counting in the West Bengal assembly elections. In a media statement, she accused the BJP of executing a strategic plan to display early results, which reflects a significant swing in voter sentiment.

BJP’s Lead in West Bengal Assembly Elections

As the counting progresses, the BJP appears to be gaining momentum, leading in 190 seats out of the total 294. The Trinamool Congress is currently trailing with 99 seats. Banerjee’s predictions about the BJP’s tactics have drawn attention to the integrity of the electoral process in the state.

Concerns Over Voter Roll Clean-up

Banerjee has been critical of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, which resulted in the removal of approximately 8.9 million voters, equating to 11.6% of the electorate. This statistic closely mirrors the Trinamool’s winning margin from the previous elections in 2021.

  • Total Assembly Seats: 294
  • BJP’s Current Seats: 190
  • Trinamool Congress Seats: 99
  • Voters Removed in SIR: 8.9 million

Allegations of Electoral Manipulation

In her statement, Banerjee urged counting agents and candidates to remain vigilant, claiming that the BJP’s tactics include stopping counts in various locations and utilizing central forces to suppress the Trinamool Congress. She noted incidents where voting machines in Kalyani showed discrepancies.

“This is BJP’s plan. They will showcase their results first and manipulate ours during the initial counts,” Banerjee stated. She emphasized the importance of determination among her party members despite the current situation.

Battle for Remaining Seats

Banerjee reassured her supporters that even with the early counting results, several seats remain where the Trinamool is reportedly leading. She encouraged her party workers to maintain hope as the counting continues, indicating that there are still numerous rounds left to determine the final outcome.

“Wait and watch. We will fight like the cubs of a tiger,” she concluded, reflecting her commitment to contest the results vigorously amidst the unfolding events in West Bengal’s electoral landscape.
