Assam 2026 Election: BJP Surpasses Two-Thirds, Sarma Leads in Jalukbari

As the vote counting for the Assam Assembly Elections 2026 commenced at 8 AM, significant political stakes are on the line. The elections held on April 9 recorded a remarkable voter turnout, with 85.91% of the electorate casting their votes. Notably, this election marked the highest female voter turnout in Assam’s history, reaching 86.5%.

According to the Axis My India exit poll, the BJP-led NDA is expected to achieve a sweeping victory, securing between 88 and 100 seats. This would likely reduce the Congress-led alliance’s presence to just 24-36 seats, with the BJP projected to emerge as the largest party, potentially winning 70-80 seats.
