V. Sivankutty began his political career in local governance. He served as the President of the Ulloor Panchayat, marking his entry into grassroots administration. Rajagopal by 8,671 votes, which was significant as it marked the BJP’s first win in Kerala’s Assembly.
In the subsequent 2021 elections, Sivankutty returned to Nemom and won decisively with 55,837 votes. His victory over BJP’s Kummanam Rajasekharan by a margin of 3,949 votes enabled the Left Democratic Front to regain the constituency, showcasing a notable turnaround in the region’s political landscape.
