Blue Jays Promote Prospect Arjun Nimmala to Double-A

Arjun Nimmala is making significant strides in the Toronto Blue Jays’ minor-league system. The team has announced his promotion to the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, according to Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi.

Promotion Details

Nimmala will join the Double-A roster starting Tuesday. This move comes alongside the promotions of fellow prospects Nolan Perry and Austin Cates. Cates will also step up to Double-A, while Perry is set to advance to high-A.

Performance Highlights

At just 20 years old, Nimmala showed impressive skills in high-A Vancouver. Over 23 games, he posted an impressive .845 OPS. His performance included:

  • Tied for first in the Northwest League with nine doubles.
  • Tied for third place with four home runs.
  • 20 RBIs, demonstrating his power and run production.

Background and Challenges

Nimmala was the Blue Jays’ first-round pick in the 2023 draft. He faced challenges in the latter half of the 2025 season after starting strong, carrying an .846 OPS with 11 home runs before June 16. However, in the last 62 games of that season, he struggled, hitting just .181 with two home runs.

Spring Training and Current Ranking

Despite his second-half difficulties, Nimmala participated in big-league spring training as a non-roster invitee. He appeared in 16 games for Toronto, recording 7 hits in 28 at-bats, which included two doubles and five walks.

After impressing in spring training, he resumed his journey with high-A in 2026, ultimately earning his promotion to New Hampshire. According to MLB Pipeline, Nimmala is currently the No. 3 prospect in the Blue Jays’ organization and ranks No. 67 across all of Major League Baseball.
