Conversely, deliveries that include larger or high-value items will not see any payment changes, while those handling heavier deliveries will receive an additional £0.65.
Driver Concerns
Many drivers express concerns regarding their income due to these adjustments. One driver indicated that he could lose approximately £25 daily, equating to around £6,500 annually. This reduction poses challenges for managing household expenses.
Another driver highlighted that even with the potential for increased payments on larger parcels, it is unlikely they could compensate for the loss from the reduced payments on smaller deliveries. He noted, “We just don’t get that many larger parcels to make up for the loss resulting from the rate cut in smaller parcels.”
Protest Schedule
The protesting drivers plan to refuse delivery duties on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week. While DPD acknowledges the grievances raised by some drivers, the company maintains that it does not anticipate any major disruptions to their service during this action.
