Liverpool Police Seek Woman Accused of Throwing Bleach in Man’s Face

Authorities in Liverpool are searching for a woman linked to a bleach attack in the city center. The incident occurred at the intersection of Bold Street and Newington around 1:55 PM on April 29.
Details of the Incident
During the attack, a man, identified as Craig Rowlands, was targeted by two individuals who allegedly squirted a corrosive liquid at him. Initial tests confirmed that this substance was bleach. Rowlands was subsequently taken to a hospital for evaluation but has since been discharged.
Arrest and Charges
Two suspects, 22-year-old Annie Woods and 23-year-old Christy Hegarty, have been charged with throwing a corrosive fluid with intent to cause harm. The police reported that they made their first court appearances at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on May 1.

During the court session, Hegarty was seen wearing a grey hoodie and joggers, while Woods sported a bleach-blonde braid. Both individuals confirmed their names and addresses, but no pleas were entered due to the severity of the charges.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities cordoned off the area following the attack as law enforcement began their investigation. Detective Inspector Paula Jones stated this incident appears to have been a targeted attack. The suspects reportedly fled on foot toward Oldham Street.

Woods has been granted bail under specific conditions and is expected to return to court on May 29. Hegarty, however, has been remanded in custody and will also appear at the same date at Liverpool Crown Court.
